to the boy

To the boy I cradle in my arms, I never knew the meaning of delight more than today.
To the boy who needs a booboo kissed, I will kiss that dirty scrape or bloody elbow or bruised forehead any time with a thousand kisses.
To the boy who climbs all the trees, keep climbing and exploring—this is a great big world.
To the boy I’m dropping off on your first day. I promise, behind my sunglasses I have more tears than you.
To the boy who’s up all night with the flu, I pray you’re better soon, but not before I get plenty of cuddles.
To the boy who wants to fit in, you will always fit right here, and when you’re ready, you will find your place out there.
To the boy who eats everything in sight, please stop drinking out of the milk jug. And put on a shirt.
To the boy whose heart is broken, take a breath. The first heartbreak is tough, but it will teach you compassion.
To the boy who wants to test me, it may feel like a fight, but we are both fighting for the same thing—you.
To the boy who may have lost his way, there is always always hope. Morning mercy is a real thing.
To the boy who got caught, I did too. God’s grace is bigger than your mistake.
To the boy who I am learning to let go, be patient with me. Grip-loosening is not my strength.
To the boy who falls in love, imitate your daddy and she will love you forever.
To the boy loading up his car to leave, I never knew the meaning of bittersweet more than today.
